Mayor and Council
Mayor Frederick Nielsen
(Term Expires June 2013)

When Mayor Nielsen was asked about his family history and the reasons he ran for Council, he said the following, "I was raised in St. Johns and graduated from St. Johns High.  After a 2 year mission for my church, I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University and successfully completed the 2 ½ year JELD-WEN School of Management.  Thereafter, I was employed with JELD-WEN Inc., for 10 years working across the United States and Mexico.   In 2001, rather than accept another international move, I decided to come back home and go into business with my father and my brothers and have never looked back.  My wife Sandra and I have been married 21 years and have 5 children, and are very grateful to have the opportunity to raise them here in St. Johns.  I decided to run for office because I hope to make a difference.  By the voting percentages across the country it is plain to see that people have become apathetic and have begun to lose faith in government.  I want to help change the current perceptions, and encourage everyone to make a positive influence in the community.  I hope to preserve the cost of living for our elderly and encourage the education of our children.  I believe St. Johns can prosper without going into debt or adding more burdens to the taxpayer."

Councilmember Cirivello is serving his first term on City Council. When asked why he chose to run for City Council he stated, "I ran to repay the City of St. Johns for its immediate acceptance of my family when we moved here eight years ago. However, since 1989, he has been a local Law Enforcement Officer and is currently serving as the Regional Commissioner for the AYSO Soccer Association.

I live in St. Johns with my husband of 16 years and my four children. I have three main passions in my life: my family, volunteering for the youth of our community and playing softball. I want to be the voice of the community. I always have time to chat and hear the concerns of all my neighbors."

First, this is my home and I want to help the city any way that I can. Secondly, as a small business owner I am able to speak with many different residents on a daily basis and hope to bring that perspective to the table. I am looking forward to working with the other council members."

Councilmember Pete Hancock
(Term Expires June 2013)

Councilmember Kay Hauser
(Term Expires June 2013)

Councilwoman Hauser moved to St. Johns in 1964. She has 3 children, 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In 1966, Councilwoman Hauser and her husband made the decision to spend their lives in St. Johns, rather than take over her Dad's business in the West Valley.

When asked about her history and why she ran for Council, Councilwoman Hauser stated, "This is our spot on earth. I love St. Johns and the people in it. I worked 7 years in the County Treasurer's Office, 3 years for the Board of Supervisors and have just completed my 28th year as the School Food Service Director. I have always been community involved, have served for the past 25 years on the Apache County Planning and Zoning Commission, have served the youth of the community in every way available, and have served in the Boy Scouts of America for the past 40 years. I support economic growth, long range planning and ran for the council, as I feel our community voters should have a choice of candidates at election time."
